Clean Ghana Ambassadors is a non-governmental organization which sort to sensitize and educate Ghanaians on the need for a collective responsibility for proper disposal and management of waste. Ghana is described as the gateway to Africa; a nation where peace and democracy are the hallmark. However, a major challenge facing the country is filth which is as a result of improper disposal of waste and management of dump sites.
It is not surprising that Ghana was ranked seventh as the world’s dirtiest country by the World health organisation (WHO) and United Nations children’s fund (UNICEF), urging Ghanaians to improve the situation to avoid epidemic outbreaks. Day in and day out, the volume of filth in the country increases as a result of indiscipline, without proper measures put in place to curb the menace. It can be said that, the people of Ghana have not learnt their lessons after the numerous floods and the recent one which caused the nation to lose precious lives on June 3, 2015.
These floods are as a result of choked gutters resulting from the improper disposal of waste from the citizenry. These lackadaisical attitudes of Ghanaians are very disturbing, contributing to a huge debt incurred on the nation each year even though the problem still exist. This initiative sort to mainly sensitize and educate each and every Ghanaian citizen on the need to instil discipline in themselves and the people around them towards refuse disposal and management.
